About
Having worked in the public sector for over nine years, I specialise in the development of accessible and responsive web applications.
Projects
European Plate
I developed a custom Alexa skill that enables users to find out which country is represented by the code featured in the blue section on the left of a European vehicle registration plate. I used the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) to create an Alexa-Hosted skill using Node.js. I created custom intents and included AMAZON.RepeatIntent using session attributes, allowing users to request Alexa to repeat the last response. I integrated Alexa Presentation Language (APL) by adopting the responsive AlexaDetail template using JSON and added an additional language to increase engagement and expand user reach. The aim of the project was to provide information to the drivers of vehicles with Alexa. Continuous enhancements resulted in European Plate being published to the Alexa Skills Store.

Dangerous Goods Driver Training
As part of the re-development of SQA web applications to adhere to The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018, I developed a boilerplate to maintain continuity and reduce development time. The boilerplate was utilised to re-develop five SQA web applications, including Dangerous Goods Driver Training. The aim of the project was to ensure that the content was Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR). Continuous enhancements to the boilerplate and team collaboration resulted in Dangerous Goods Driver Training conforming to WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

Leeanne Lyden Photography
As my first non-academic project, I developed a simple web application, specialising in photography. I used WordPress to develop the web application. Here, I developed a custom child theme using the Twenty Twelve theme and developed a number of custom page templates to provide structural variation. The aim of the project was to highlight the work of the photographer. The successful planning, development and evaluation of the project resulted in the photographer gaining more recognition.

As part of the Multimedia 4 Project (COMP10027) module, I developed an interactive web application that allows users to locate their current location and track their journey whilst retrieving relevant journey information via GPS/Wi-Fi. I used HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and PHP to develop the web application. The aim of the project was to demonstrate the potential of web applications and compare it against current native applications. The successful planning, development and evaluation of the project reflected on my overall grade of a B1.
